KayPENTAX is pleased to announce the introduction of three new laryngeal imaging products: the VNL-1590STi High-Definition (HD) Videonasolaryngoscope, the EPK-i Digital Video Processor with i-SCAN, and the HD Digital Stroboscopy System.

The VNL-1590STi video endoscope provides the highest resolution HD color image available for an ENT flexible scope, resulting in an image quality that is strikingly sharper  compared to standard-definition images. According to Robert McClurkin, Director of Product Management and Marketing, “The doctors who have used this new scope rave about the image quality and see the 1590 as a major technological leap in transnasal flexible endoscopy.”

The VNL-1590STi has a wide angle, 100° field of view, which is wider than other ENT scopes on the market. Its bifurcated light cable allows it to be used with either the video processor light source or the KayPENTAX stroboscopic light source.

The VNL-1590STi is used in conjunction with the new high-definition EPK-i Digital Video Processor. In addition to its stunning image quality for standard endoscopic procedures, this new processor features an exciting endoscopic image enhancement capability, known as i-SCAN. With i-SCAN, the color, sharpness, and contrast of videoendoscopic images can be digitally enhanced to provide alternative viewing modalities of the surface structure and vascularity of mucosal tissue. These enhancements can be selectively applied to the real-time image being viewed on-screen, according to the clinicians’ preferences.

Notes McClurkin, “The application of these image enhancement modalities is still in the research phase at leading clinics, but early feedback has been promising.” The i-SCAN enhancements are implemented in software, which makes them upgradeable as new advancements in technology occur.

The third new product is the High-Definition Digital Strobe System, the latest generation of advanced imaging systems from KayPENTAX. With the HD Digital Strobe, stroboscopic and other endoscopic exams can be viewed and recorded in razor-sharp, 1080i HD format, the same state-of-the-art format used for HD television. HD stroboscopy provides six times the image detail when compared to standard video, showing the vocal fold edge, mucosa, and microvasculature with unparalleled clarity. Real-time images are viewed in uncompressed HD, for the highest image quality during exams. Exam videos are saved in the industry-standard H.264 video format (the same format used on Blu-ray Discs), for efficient storage of files on the computer’s hard drive. The HD Digital Strobe System features a new, intuitive workflow-based application, with instant retrieval and playback of recorded exams, patient database and exam management, report generation, and still image creation. With its excellent image quality and clarity, the KayPENTAX HD Digital Strobe System sets a new standard for endoscopic exam recording.
